J'étais à Paris....sans ordinateur.....je rattrape un peu maintenant......beaucoup de photos à organiser et pour ne pas vous ennuyer avec 300 photos j'ai fait une sélection et par thème!

I was in Paris.... without my computer..... I'm trying to catch up on things now..... but I've got a lot of photos to organise and as I don't want to bother you with 300 photos, I made a collection by theme.

Bien sûr je suis allée voir La Grande Dame de Paris...... oui grande: 324m ...... comme j'ai fait avec mes autres visites à Paris mais .... j'ai voulu la voir à nouveau, vérifier si elle va bien! Et oui elle va bien et elle est mise en plus de sécurité maintenant.... on ne passe plus en dessous en liberté mais partout il y a des gardes pour examiner des sacs et manteaux.

Of course I wanted to go and see Our Lady of Paris ....again...like before on my other visits here, but I needed to check she was still there! And she was, all 1,063 ft! even more secured than I remember...there were control points everywhere and you cant't just walk underneath her just like that anymore.

Il n'est pas question de prendre des centaines de photos de ce monument photogénique, mais j'ai cherché à prendre une que je n'ai pas pris avant.... finalement tous les angles et points de vues ont été déjà étudiés dans le passé (sachant que son passé est depuis 1889, année de l'exposition universelle), mais ceci est seulement la mienne du moment même.
There's no point in taking hundreds of pictures and showing them here, but I wanted to take pictures from another point of view; another angle....then again every angle I can think of has already been used in the past (knowing that her past exists since the 1889 World's Fair)..... never mind; this is my perception.

En écrivant cet article, en contemplant ce tour, je me posait des questions et j'ai fait beaucoup de recherche sur internet pour mieux connaître. Je ne veux pas étaler tout que j'ai appris; si le sujet vous intéresse vous trouverez facilement des informations et des photos. Ceci je veux partager avec vous, car je m'émerveille à l'idée de sa construction il y a presque 130 ans.

J'ai aussi lu un livre récemment par l'auteur Néerlandais Arthur Japin. Il a écrit en 2015 le roman "De gevleugelde", un roman sur Alberto Santos Dumont, le pionnier franco-brésilien de l'aviation qui a construit de nombreux ballons. Avec un, forme comme le zeppelin, il a volé autour le tour Eiffel en 1900 lors d'un compétition

While writing this post, I wondered about the construction of the tower, so high in those days, nearly 130 years ago, with such limited technology. So I started to look for information on the internet and found this amazing vintage photo that I want to share with you. (link see above).

I read a book recently by the Dutch author Artur Japin. In 2015 he wrote a beautifully written (as are all his books) novel about Alberto Santos Dumont who was a Brazilian aviation pioneer. He designed hot air balloons and with one zeppelin like balloon he participated in a competition and flew round the Eiffel tower in 1900.  

En dessous le tour, au sol,  il y a des imposantes peintures, symbolique, je pense pour les différents cultures et gens qui se rencontrent ici. Quand je lève la tête je me demande comment entretenir cette énorme construction. Des tonnes et des tonnes de peinture de la couleur "brun-tour-Eiffel" sont appliqués  une fois par cinq ans.

Under the tower, on the floor, there are these gigantic paintings of silhouettes in black and white, symbolic perhaps for all the cultures meeting here. Looking up I wondered how to maintain this enormous building. Tons and tons of paint in the colour "brun-tour-Eiffel" are used every five years.

Parlant de la peinture: de nombreux artistes ont créé des œuvres avec la grande dame. Dans le Musée Art Moderne j'ai pris ces photos des tableaux par Robert Delaunay pour une exemple.

Il est temps que je prenne mes pinceaux maintenant.....

Talking about painting: so many artists who painted this tall Lady. In the MAM-paris I took these paintings by Robert Delaunay as an example.

Time to pick up my own brushes...

La première période à l'école est presque terminée. J'en ai fait des voyages en tram aller et retour! Ca me donne du matériel pour jouer et voici les résultats.

The first school period is nearly finished and we'll have a two weeks autumn break. This first period I collected a lot of tram tickets travelling to an fro and what best way to use them up is to make small ATCs with them. Follow the link to see more results.

Ticket de tram ou bien les dimensions ATC officielle; le plaisir est le même. J'aime beaucoup créer sur un si petit format. 

Tram tickets or proper ATCs; the pleasure of making them is the same. I love working these small formats.

Je ne sais pas pourquoi mais la Lune m'a toujours fasciné, surtout la pleine lune! Je ne possède pas un appareil photo d'une qualité super extra ordinaire mais il prend des belles images quand même. Je suis contente de voir un peu de la structure de la surface de la Lune.
I don't know why but I am always fascinated by the moon, especially the full moon.

I don't have a very high-tech camera but I am actually quite pleased the way it captures some of the texture on the moon's surface.

J'ai comparé les photos que j'ai fait en juillet avec celles d'octobre et j'ai observé que la lune a basculé un peu. La première est d'octobre et la dernière de juillet.

Je me considère 'lunatique' avec ma fascination pour la Lune et vous; êtes-vous aussi captivé par elle?

I also made photos of the moon in July and now I noticed it has slightly changed position . The first picture is the October moon and the one after that is the July moon.

I must be 'moonsick'; what about you?

J'ai faite une bonne soupe avec ces écales de noix. Ca donne des nuances fauves et brunes.

I made a nice stew with the husks of walnuts. It gives an interesting earth colour to dye fabrics in.

Au menu ensuite, une soupe aux glands. "Ca se mange?" m'a demandé quelqu'un. Oh non, je n'essaierai pas! Mais ça donne une jolie couleur apparemment.....j'attends encore les résultats. Au moments j'ai voulu sortir le paquet et l'ouvrir, j'ai lu le blog de Anne Claire qui a accueilli un stage de Bérénice Mollet, artiste textile (voir les liens). A ce moment j'ai appris qu'il faut attendre dix jours avant de l'ouvrir!!! Oh la patience!!!!

J'ai aussi fait un rouleau avec des feuilles que j'ai fait mijoter à la vapeur pendant des heures.

Next was an acorn soupe I prepared. No, you shouldn't eat that!!! But this is a recipe for a beautiful brown dye apparently. I can't tell yet. The fabric packet I cooked, filled with leaves wound around a branch, is still in the pot. I should wait ten days before opening it. I'm not sure I can wait that long. I picked up this knowledge on Anne Claire's blog (see links) who hosted a workshop about eco dyeing.

I also made a roll of fabric that I steamed for some hours.

Une expérience avec le 'cuttlebug'. J'ai pressé quelque feuilles sur un morceau de coton. Quelle magnifique couleur ça a donné, mais malheureusement ce n'était pas pour rester. Après un mois la lumière a tourné la couleur d'un vague beige-marron.

This is an experiment. I took my cuttlebug and pressed fresh leaves onto fabric. What a beautiful green colour was printed on the surface. But now it's nearly a month later and the green is fading...even the left over brown is not so clearly seen.

Les photos suivantes montrent une expérience que j'ai fait avec un coin d'une serviette que j'ai poussé dans un verre de vin oublié un soir. Ensuite j'ai mis un peu de ce vin mélangé avec du bicarbonate de soude. Le tissu devenait gris. Je l'ai mis à nouveau dans le vin....rouge! Je jouais, et vraiment je n'ai jamais compris quelque chose dans les cours de chimie!!!!! Ensuite j'ai pris un bâtonnet avec le mélange et j'ai fait un dessin sur le bout de tissu.

Avec ce bout de rien du tout je l'ai transformé en une broche.
 

The next photos are of an experiment of a corner of a cotton napkin squeezed in a glass of wine...... next I took a little of the wine with some baking soda added to it and the fabric turned grey. I put it back in the wine again and it turned red, dried it a little and put dots of the baking soda-wine mix on it to make a pattern. It was fun to discover...me, who knows absolutely nothing about chemics!!!!

With the result I turned this little bit of nothing into a brooche.

These last photos show you the result of some fabric having been immersed in the walnut soup for only two hours. It relates to the first picture of this article which shows you how I prepared the fabric before putting it in the pot.
