Et les horloges tournent ...tournent trop vite... plus vite il me semble....

La deuxième semaine de Inktober est déjà passé... je suis l'évènement mais je prends un peu de retard... les mots ne m'inspire pas toujours immédiatement et il y a d'autres choses à faire aussi,.... pas sûre que je tiens le coup jusqu'à la fin.

And clocks are ticking.... faster and faster as it feels for me...

The second week of Inktober has finished ..... I am following the challenge but getting a little behind. The given words don't always inspire immediately and there is more to do than just drawing.... I'm not sure I can keep up till the end of October.

Pour le 8 Octobre le mot était "étoile". J'ai pensé tout de suite à ma chanson favorite: "If the stars were mine" par Melody Gardot.

For the 8th of October I thought of my favourite song straight away: "if the stars were mine" by Melody Gardot.

Mais puisque on peut dessiner ce mot à mille manières j'ai fait au moins un deuxième dessin. C'était car ce bout de papier aquarelle, avec ces tâches était sur ma table, que j'ai trouvé l'inspiration avec un citation trouvé en Flow magazine.

But as there so many ways to picture 'stars', I wanted to make at least a second one. It was because there was this watercolour paper full of splashes that I suddenly saw how to turn it into a star drawing with a quote found in Flow magazine.

Après les précieux étoiles arrivait le mot "précieux". Que pourrait être plus précieux que la vie elle même? Donc j'ai dessiné mon monde avec beaucoup d'éléments précieux. J'ai pris des photos de tous les côtés pour que vous n'avez pas besoin de se mettre à l'envers pour voir tous les détails.

After the precious stars came the word for the ninth of October: "precious". Now what more precious is there than Life?!! So I drew my world with lots of precious elements. As it is a circle drawing I took pictures from all sides so you don't have to sit upside down to see all the details.

Et plouf! le lendemain mon monde précieux doit faire place au mot " cruel"... dans mon précieux monde le bienêtre n'est pas omniprésent malheureusement. A mon école surveillants et enseignants font tout pour que les relations entre les enfants sont le plus agréables mais ça arrive parfois que, cruellement, un enfant n'est pas accepté dans le groupe.

And then... the next day my little bubble bursts and I need to try draw the word cruel. Not my favourite word. In the school where I work I witnessed a situation like this: a child was not accepted in a group and left all alone. My heart breaks when I see that.... It's cruelty on a small scale, but it is there when we can perhaps change the course of things?

Comment dessiner 'flowing'? Heureusement j'étais en ville et j'ai photographié ce statue qui se trouve dans le jardin de ville de Grenoble.

How to draw 'flowing'? It was a happy coincidence that I had been out taking pictures in town. You can find this statue in the park in the centre of Grenoble.

Oh bien on reste dans le thème.... d'abord de l'eau qui coule et maintenant je nage avec les 'baleines'! J'en ai fait deux et je ne pouvais pas choisir quel des deux est le meilleur dessin.

Oh good we stick to the theme of flowing and I go swimming with the 'whales'. I made two drawings and I could not choose which one is the better one, so I show you both.

On y va encore plus dans le profond de la mer et on y trouve un énorme pieuvre qui 'garde' un précieux trésor. Et comme ça mes sujets tournent bien ensemble, en rond.... rond comme le 'clock.'...

Le dernier mot de la semaine était 'clock' Je chante des comptines avec mes petits élèves et 'hickory dickory dock' est favorite!

Let's dive deeper in the sea and see how an octopus 'guards' a precious treasure! And like that all my pictures fit together in a way.... all turns round.... round like the 'clock'.

The last word of the week was 'clock' I sing nursery rhymes with french primary school children to teach them the beginnings of english. They love to sing 'hickory dickory dock'.

Le mois d'octobre est bien en route et je n'avais pas encore fait ma page de planning. Aujourd'hui alors, car il pleut et je me refuge dans mon atelier.

Octobre, des mémoires de, il y a cinq ans, retournent dans la tête toujours autour du 15, .... C'est déjà cinq ans en arrière que mon mari a eu un AVC, mais il s'est battu et se bat encore et tous les jours il gagne....

Un mois avec beaucoup à créer, et il y a des événements qui s'annoncent, des fêtes se préparent....

It is already October and I didn't do my planner page in my journal yet. So today I changed that. It was a good day for catching up on things as it rained and I retreated into my studio.

October is a memorable month being it five years since my husband had his stroke... five years is a long time and yet.... but he never gave up and gives all his energy to get better every day....

And then October is a busy month with lots of things to create, to plan happy times ahead, parties to prepare....

Ce mois je recommence les ateliers pour enfants et parents au club équestre..... j'ai déjà fait un modèle pour des 'funky' portraits. J'ai eu l'idée depuis un cours en ligne "Wanderlust". Mixed média artiste Wyanne travaille avec de la cire, neocolor II, aquarelle, etc.  C'est une artiste extraordinaire qui se bat après son cancer qui l'a laissé avec des troubles de paroles. This month I start again with the workshop for children and parents in our horseriding club where not everybody can ride.... I already made an example of a funky portrait with neocolor II. I got the idea after having seen a tutorial on an online workshop Wanderlust. Mixed media artist Wyanne works with wax, watercolours, etc. She is a wonderful woman who fights the oral cancer that left her with a speech impediment. Follow the links I gave here so she can introduce herself.

Je pense bien sur à "Yesterday when I was young" (chanson de Charles Aznavour, le premier français dans ma vie), et c'est comme hier que nous ont eu nos enfants. C'est tellement précieux le moment quand ton enfant annonce qu'une nouvelle génération arrive!

Of course I think of "yesterday when I was young" (title of a song by Charles Aznavour who died this week) and how it was like yesterday when we started our family. Isn't it special that now a new generation announces itself?!

Elle, qui comme hier n'était qu'une petite fille elle même, 'adoptait' les peluches de sa bébé sœur. C'est beau à penser qu'elle est la maille entre hier et ce qu'il va arriver.....

It was like yesterday when she, very young herself, 'adopted' all the cuddly toys of her baby sister. It is a nice idea to think that she is in fact the link between yesterday and all there is to come.

En avant court le temps. Je vous montre trois images du procédé: collage avec des vieux papier, coloré avec neocolor II, couvert avec du gesso, puis déchiré un peu de ces papier, puis plus de couleur avec de la peinture acrylique dilué sur le gesso et enfin faire la grille avec les jours du mois. J'ai ajouté un tampon avec des oiseaux et j'ai peint quelques feuilles.

Time is running forward. I show you three pictures of the making of: I started with collage of bookpapers, covered the pages with neocolor II, then spread gesso all over the surface, here and there I tore away some of the paper for a weathered look, then I added more colour with diluted acrylic paint over the gesso and at last I drew the lines for the days of the month. I added a stamp of flying birds and I painted some autumn leaves.

A deux-deux ce mois s'envolera....

Au centre équestre La Chevauchée c'était les portes ouvertes aujourd'hui (dimanche). Mon rôle était de présenter l'atelier créatif que je offre volontairement les samedi après-midi pour enfants et parents (car pas tout le monde monte à cheval).

At the horse farm La Chevauchée in our village it was open day today (Sunday). I was there to present the free workshop that I offer to the club every Saturday afternoon to parents and children (because not everyone rides).

Pour cette occasion j'ai rapidement créé quelques ATCs pour donner aux intéressées. Sur le dos j'avais écrit un petit poème que j'ai inventé:  "Dessiner - j'adore dessiner - à deux, c'est mieux - à trois, quelle joie - à quatre, c'est mieux qu'un psychiatre - à cinq ou six, ça devient encore plus créatif - c'est géniale à sept ou huit - et où va-t-on ensuite?

For this occasion I whipped up some quick ATCs to hand out. On the back I had written a little poem that was something  (it was in french of course) like this: "I love drawing but being two, it's more fun, when three even more joy, when four one doesn't need a psy, when five or six there will be more creativity and once we're seven or eight I don't know where we're heading off to... (very free translation)

Je n'avais que deux tables de pique-nique pour la présentation, donc j'ai gardé des choses simples. J'ai posé deux sacs en papier, qui restaient bien debout avec de l'information et au milieu un peu les exemples pour montrer ce que je fais.

Vous êtes curieux qu'est ce caillou qui tient le papier sur place?....

I didn't have more than two picknick tables for my presentation so I kept things simple. At either end I put a paper bag that would stand upright as to hang some information on and between them there was a display of some of the things I create.

Perhaps you are curious to see what kind of stone kept the paper in place?....

Je me suis amusé peindre un visage sur un caillou. C'est ce que nous pouvons faire ensemble dans l'atelier du samedi.

I had fun painting a little face on this one. We could do a Saturday workshop painting stones....

Quand des gens arrivaient, j'avais aussitôt rassemblé tout un groupe d'artistes en herbe. J'ai proposé qu'ils dessinent une créature à partir d'un grosse tâche d'encre ou bien une carte postale. J'avais demandé aux parents de donner un coup de main écrire l'adresse dessus. Cette semaine je vais poster ces cartes pour qu'ils expériementes la joie de recevoir une carte fait main.

When people arrived I quickly had lots of children gathered round the table who wanted to draw too. I proposed they drew a creature from an ink blot or a postcard. I had the parents help out writing the address and I will send these cards this week. So they will experience how much fun it is to receive a handmade card!!

Pour échapper la chaleur dans la vallée on monte dans le Vercors et quand je ne monte pas à cheval, je dessine....

To escape the hot weather here in the valley we go up in the Vercors mountains. When I don't ride my horse, I draw.....

Je ne le trouve pas facile de dessiner les montagnes: trop de brocoli.... parfois c'est comme danser sur la corde raide.

I don't find it easy to draw mountains and forests: too much broccoli..... it feels a little like a tightrope walker.

Ceci est le hameau ou nous et nos chevaux sont toujours chaleureusement accueillis.

This is the hamlet where we and our horses are always welcome.

Voila le hameau au centre...... Je n'ai pas fini dessiner les montagnes mais je pense que je change bientôt pour aller dessiner les paysages de mer.

And this is the hamlet seen from within its centre..... Not quite finished with drawing mountains... but I think I will change to some seascapes soon.

J'ai commencé plus tard dans le challenge donc je fais ce que je peux et je dessine les phrases qui me disent quelque chose.

I jumped in on this challenge when it was well on its way so I take it as it comes for the remaining days, drawing the sentences that speak to me.

Mon favoris.... est ce que vous aussi avez du mal à se retenir le nombre de codes pour avoir accès quelque part?

My favourite..... and you.... do you have difficulty to remember the growing number of codes to give you access  here and there?

Ne dites pas 'pauvre cheval' car c'est Laurada qui s'étale dans l'herbe et roule pour se détendre. 'Se vautré' a aussi cette définition, je pense avoir compris. Le 'lamentablement' vient de l'idée qu'elle le fait sans gêne.

Don't say 'poor horse' because Laurada is stretching out in her meadow and rolling about to relax after a walk. That's how I understood the french sentence..... the sentences are complicated sometimes for a dutch girl ;)

The word 'lamentablement' : 'apallingly or pathetically' refers to the idea that she does it unashamed of showing her behind to the onlookers ;)

Une de ces phrases un peu complexes. Je ne savais pas comment le dessiner et je finissais par en faire deux. Le deuxième dessin est un souvenir d'enfance: j'avais très peur pour nager et on m'a du sauver plusieurs fois avec la perche.

One of these more complex sentences. I had no idea how to draw it so I ended up making two. The second one is in fact a souvenir from childhood. I was terrified of water and more than once someone had to get me out by use of a pole. I learned to swim when I was an adult.
