I have joined the gelli printing challenge set by Birgit Koopsen. Follow the link to learn more about it. I am very happy to participate and so use my gelli plate more often.... well every day now during the month of March.
circles

There are so many ideas and inspiration to find on the internet that you don't need mine. I restrict myself to show you just one print of the day. The first seven days are collected here. Here and there I will explain a little and at the end of the blog you'll find a slide show with a selection. I made many more prints for every word; I just can't stop. A link to show you Birgit's take on the prompts.
peek through

This word suggest layering and to use a mask through which we can peek at underlying layers. I need to develop this idea more. I could go to one of the links I give here.
stencil

I just love stencils!!! I made quite a few of them myself by handcutting them or by using the Scan'Ncut. Most often I use a soft brayer to apply the paint through the stencils. It's a quick way to achieve a colourful background and also to place the patterns more precisely on a page, around a picture for instance. The link leads you to where I buy my stencils online.
texture
The fourth day we create texture on the gelli plate, but be careful not to use sharp objects. So how to create texture while the gelli plate is so flat? You can look around in your house or outside to find many things with a relief on the surface: a basket, a knitted scarf, cardboard, bark, crumpled paper, fabric, some kitchen utensils, .....
crayon resist

This is a technique I learned in the online workshop "Jumpstart". Follow the links to my experience and to a tutorial.
flower
Around this word I could gelli print happily the whole of 2018... and that is really nothing if you compare it to Claude Monet who painted his waterlilies for thirty years!!
thread
Threads! Now what to do with that? But I admit that I was amazed by the result.
In layering it isn't always clear how to proceed: which colour first? which pattern first? where to stop? Here you see the first picture after two layers: first yellow, then red and then blue. The second photo shows the same procedure but in the one on the left I started blue, then red and then yellow: mud!
At least this technique leaves me with a lovely coloured thread to use in another project.
