My journal is like a house to the rooftop filled with stories.

Une page rapidement créé le jour j'ai découvert une invasion de fourmis sous la maison..... que peuvent elles y faire si non que de dégâts? En tout cas, je n'étais pas heureuses avec ces 'sous-locataires'.

A page created in a sudden inspiration when I discovered that there was an invasion taking place of ants looking for a residence under the house..... Now, what could they be doing there if not undermining it. Needless to say I was not amused by these sub tenants.

Une autre histoire à raconter; le sujet est le Smartphone.... oui on non en acheter, oui ou non en avoir un réel besoin, oui ou non tomber dans la piège et continuer à vivre mobile collé en main comme un membre poussé d'un coup à l'extrémité de mon bras..... Je partage avec vous ce petit BD en animation.

Pour le fond de page j'ai collé des sopalins avec lesquels j'avais nettoyé mes pinceaux.

This page is actually an envelope that hold all the words I wrote myself and which I can't share with the world.

De ces pages je ne suis pas à l'aise car, flashé d'un art par Lisa Congdon j'avais envie de l'essayer aussi, voir des formes assez simples sur un fond noir. C'est du copie sans ce que c'est un vrai copie.... la forme du pot n'est pas la même et j'ai ajouté deux éléments: l'œil qui me regarde ma conscience et le serpent. Le serpent symbole du mal....   Copier le travail d'un artiste n'est pas le mal.... copier peut nous faire avancer et aide à expérimenter. Je rends compte que chaque œuvre d'art n'est qu'un aperçu d'un grand travail, du temps, de la recherche, des essais avant d'y arriver. Je respecte son art et je ne poste pas mes pages sans dire où j'ai trouver de l'inspiration;de ne pas donner crédit sera le mal. Les liens vous emmène à son art:

With these pages I don't feel really at ease because, falling upon an art work by Lisa Congdon, I felt so inspired that I had to see for myself how to paint those bold shapes and colours on a black background. So I copied it more or less, changing the shape of the vessel and adding two elements: the eye associated with my consience and the snake, symbol of evil. Copying another artist's work isn't 'evil' in itself .... on the contrary; it can help discovering techniques and styles, just as an experiment. I do realise that the art work we see is the result of a long way of work, trying and trying again, time, research etc before getting it right. I respect her art and admire it. Therefore it is only normal giving you the source of inspiration; not doing that were to be 'evil'. The links lead to her art work.

Beaucoup de choses dans ma tête à ce moment.... parfois je ne vois plus comment démêler les tâches.... Je les écris et je garde mes notes dans l'enveloppe à gauche.... dans les 'branches' j'ai écrit les plus importantes choses à faire. L'expression sur le visage de la femme est de l'inquiétude... espérons qu'il n'y a pas un vipère en dessous l'herbe.

Lots of things on my mind at the moment..... sometimes I don't see the wood for the trees and can't disentangle the branches.... I write my notes which I keep in the envelope on the left and in the branches I write the priorities.... The woman looks quite worried... let's hope that there aren't any adders under the grass....

J'ai fait cette page avec de l'aquarelle et je me suis amusé d'éclabousser des couleurs partout. J'ai ajouté un peu de collage - serviettage.

I had fun putting this page together, playing with watercolours and splashes and adding collage of napkin pieces...

Tenir un journal devrait être un joie! Et c'est vraiment ça! J'adore patouiller dans mon journal. Les mots prennent une place de plus en plus discrète et les images raconte l'histoire.

Keeping a journal should be fun! And it really is! I love experimenting with colours, techniques and materials in my book. Words are now often pushed to the background while pictures tell the story.

La vie devrait être une joie, une fête tous les jours, mais vous et moi savent que ce n'est pas toujours le cas. Je traverse des moments de doute; des soucis et frustrations oppressent mon cœur; il me manque de confiance.... Est ce que il n'est pas bizarre que surtout ces sentiments me poussent à créer dans mon journal? Si je donne de l'impression que je me sens tout le temps comme ça, je vous assure, ce n'est pas le cas. En plus: le moment j'ai confié mes sentiments au papier, ils se transforme pour des pensées positives!!

Life should be joyful and fun all of the time, but you and me know that it isn't always the case. I go through times of self doubt and worrying; frustration and feeling depressed weigh me down;  I often lack confidence... It is strange, that especially the 'downs' urge me to express myself in my journal. So if I give the impression that I always feel unhappy I must assure you of the opposite! And then: once I trusted my feelings to paper, they transform into much happier thoughts.

L'internet est une grande source d'inspiration. L'idée pour cette page venait de Carolyn Dube. (incroyable: pendant que je fais cet article un nouveau You tube arrive de Carolyn; je vous le lien du vidéo que je ne l'ai pas encore vu mais regardez le titre: très approprié!!!)

Avec un tampon d'un visage, créé il y a quelques années, j'ai rempli la page.

J'ai expérimenté avec de l'encre à alcool: quelques gouttes sur une surface d'eau est devenu la palette. J'ai posé doucement du papier dessus ce qui m'a donné des jolis fonds de pages. Je les ai coupé en lames et collé entre des rangés de visages. J'ai altéré chaque visage par gribouiller avec un simple stylo.

Internet is a limitless source of inspiration. The idea for this page came from Carolyn Dube. (Isn't it incredible?!! While I am writing this post a new video by Carolyn comes in! I give you its link but I haven't seen it myself. However the title only is very appropriate !!)

With a home made stamp of a face I filled the whole page.

I experimented a little with some alcohol inks: I added a few drop of awter to the surface which became my palette. I placed a sheet of paper on top, only very lightly and the colours were printed instantly. I gave me a nice stock of background papers. I cut them in strips which I collaged between the rows of faces. I then doodled over the faces with an ordinary pen.

Sur la page à droite j'ai fait un fond avec de l'encre et beaucoup d'eau. J'ai ajouté la citation de Ria Sharon et ajouté une empreinte gelli au milieu.

On the right hand page I made a background with watercolour inks and a lot of water. I handlettered Ria Sharon's quote again and glued a gelli print in the middle.

J'ai ajouté un peu de texte sur des lames de papier. Le titre à gauche vient d'un chanson de Lisa Ekdahl (clic sur le lien).  J'ai peint le visage pour le donner plus d'expression.

I added some journaling on the strips of paper and painted the face to make it more expressive. The title on the left came from a song by Lisa Ekdahl. (see link)

Quand il y a du soleil, il y a de l'ombre.....

When there is sun, there is shadow.....

J'ai fait un découpage à la main (sans d'abord dessiner) et j'ai été surprise de voir le bel effet de l'ombre sur la page suivante. Je l'ai peint noir après pour le contraste, et j'ai fait le texte avec un stylo blanc.

I free handcut this page and was surprised by the nice shadows it dropped on the next page. I painted the next page black for contrast. So journaling had to be done with a white pen of course.

Pas seulement Carolyn Dube a besoin de faire le bazar quand elle n'est en top forme. Amanda Grace le fait aussi. J'ai suivi un tutoriel d'elle dans l'atelier en ligne (gratuit) 'Sketchbook Revival'. Vous pouvez encore en profiter de cet offre jusqu'à 18 mai (peut être plus). Il y a deux tutoriels par jours; douze jours, 24 artistes!

Not only Carolyn Dube loves to make a mess when she's feeling 'blah', but Amanda Grace always start like that too. I followed her tutorial in the online workshop (it's free) 'Sketchbook Revival' You can still join and enjoy all this art making fun until May 18th (perhaps even longer). Pour l'occasion j'ai coupé un tampon le premier avril pour mon journal ..... non, je n'ai pas tamponné le dos de mes amis avec ce poisson.

On the first of April I cut a fish stamp. To stick a paper fish on someone's back is the french custom for happy April's fools day. I could have made plenty of paper fishes....

J'ai rempli la page qui sert comme calendrier dans mon journal avec ce poisson. Auparavant j'ai préparé la page avec du gesso pour que l'encre stazon n'allait pas à travers. Ensuite j'ai coloré la page avec de l'aquarelle.

I filled the calendar page in my journal with lots of fishes. First of all I had prepared the page with gesso so the stazon ink would not bleed. Then I painted blue and green watercolours all over it.

J'ai simplement fait ce que j'aime et j'ai décidé que Avril est le mois pour suivre mes envies.

I just did what I love and I have decided that April is just the month to do what I love.

Ce que j'aime énormément est faire de gelli prints et malgré le mois de gelli print challenge est terminé, je continue encore un peu. Je n'ai pas eu le temps de parcourir tous les thèmes. 

What I just love enormously is to make gelli prints. Although the gel print challenge is over, I love to continue a little more. I didn't finish all the prompts yet. 

Un de mes favoris est de prendre des photos et avec ce gelli plate empreinte je le montre. J'adore cette technique appris récemment pour transférer des images de magazine dans mon journal.

One of the things I love doing is to take photographs and with this gelprint I just want to illustrate that. I love this technique of tranferring magazine pictures into my journal.

Sans blaque: le premier avril je suis monté à cheval depuis très long temps. J'ai préféré de commencer avec Laurada..... je reprendrai petit à petit avec Henna j'espère.

No April fool's day joke; I went for a ride for the first time since long.... I hope to take courage and ride Henna soon too.

Le printemps est là, comme le montre la nature, mais le météo fait plutôt l'embrouille: ce matin plus que 20°c et l'après-midi une chute de plus de 10 dégrées.

Le froid-chaud-froid m'a fait perdre ma voix..... bientôt les vacances scolaires.

Spring is here as nature wants us to believe but the temperature is sometimes shocking! This morning it was in the seventies Fahrenheit and then, in the afternoon, temperatures dropped drastically to fifty. All this hot-cold alternations led to my losing my voice... One more day and then it's holidays again....

Je vous montre les pages que j'ai adoré faire. Les empreintes n'étaient pas nettes et j'ai ajouté des précisions avec neocolor II.

I show you these pages I just loved making. As the prints weren't perfect I added a little neocolor II for precision.

La page à droite est titré "fill your own cup first" (remplis ta tasse d'abord). Sans être égoïste c'est nécessaire pour en suite 'verser' les biens aux autres.

The page on the right is titled "fill your own cup first" and without being selfish, it is an important thing as to then being able to spread love around you.

Avril est encore 'jeune' et je me demande que ce mois m'apportera.

April is still 'young' and I wonder what this month will bring.

Oui je sais: avril a 30 jours mais pour un jour seulement je n'ai pas voulu réserver toute une rangée. J'ai ajouté un petit rabat.

Yes I know! April has got 30 days but just for one day I had not wanted to use so much space as a whole line. I added a little flap instead.

I did it!!I finished the art making challenge set by Rae Missigman: make a little journal of a page a day with marks, designs, symbols and above all with lots of colour!

Quelle joie de pouvoir tenir mon petit journal dans la main et le feuilleter pour me faire une fête de couleur. Puisque j'ai écris une méditation sur chaque mot c'est aussi un souvenir riche d'idées et de souvenirs.

What a joy to hold this little booklet in my hands and to browse through it again and again. It's so pleasing to the eye. As I wrote my thoughts about every word it is also a valuable journal of ideas and memories.

Je n'ai jamais pensé d'être capable de finir ce projet. Cela demande quand même un peu de discipline, difficile pour quelqu'un comme moi. Cette année je choisis vraiment de me concentrer plus sur un projet ou quelques (....) et de placer la barre moins haute. I never thought I'd finish it as it demands quite some discipline for someone like me to finish a project. But this year I really choose to focus more and set myself smaller goals. It was easy after all; you just have to begin.....

La meilleure chose était qu'on était complètement libre dans la création; il n'y avait que le mot du jour. Personne que moi pourra comprendre le résultat de la page créé.

The best thing about it was that there was so much freedom: the word was the challenge; the markmaking could be anything. Anyone but me can see the meaning of the marks in the result.
