"glamour boy"

C'a ma pris un peu de temps avant de commencer. J'avais peur de ne pas avoir les magazines que Birgit Koopsen (voir le lien)a nommé ou que je ne pouvais pas réussir ces empreintes avec cette nouvelle technique pour transférer une image. Mais ensuite j'ai vu le vidéo (lien) et je me suis lancé. J'ai trouvé un ancien numéro de 'Time magazine' (mon dernier) ce qui donnait d'empreintes fabuleuses! Dommage que j'en ai pas gardé plus. A la recherche d'autres alors.

It took me a while to get started with this gelli print technique of transferring a picture. I was afraid it would not work and that I didn't have the right magazines as mentioned by Birgit Koopsen (click on the link). But then I saw the video (link) and started looking for magazines that could be used. I found an old copy of Time magazine (had just one left); it worked fantastically. What a shame I threw all the others away. Had to look for other magazines then.

"Coup de coeur que pour vos yeux"

J'adore imprimer des visages! Le plus de contraste dans l'image, le mieux le résultat. Tout dépend sur le papier du magazine; pas tout type de papier marche... il faut les tester pour savoir. C'est important quelle peinture utiliser; la marque 'Amsterdam' marche très bien. Aussi faire attention combien de peinture badigeonner sur le gelli plate: il faut une très fine couche, qui est presque transparent. Les meilleurs résultats arrivent quand on commence avec une couleur foncé pour transférer l'image sur le gelli plate. Des couleurs claires sont utilisées (très fine couche qui laisse apparent l'image en dessous) pour enlever le total.

J'ai commencé avec 1. vert foncé, 2.bleu nuit, 3. rouge. Les images sont de 1. Time, 2. Paris-world-wide ( un magazine gratuit trouvé à l'aeroport), 3. 'She', un ancien magazine anglais de 2008. Vous voyez: je garde tout et bien longtemps!

I love printing faces. The more contrast there is in the photograph the better the print. It all depends on the magazine paper; not all papers give such good results..... this you'll find out by trial and error. It is also important what paint to use. 'Amsterdam' works well. And then it is important to spread very thin layers that appear as transparent on the printing plate. For the best results start with a dark colour and pull the lift up print with light colours (again a very thin layer through which you can see the underlying picture).

I started with 1.dark green, 2. dark blue, 3. red. The pictures are from 1.Time, 2 Paris-world-wide (a free magazine on an airport), 3.'She' an old English magazine from 2008. O yes, I keep things forever!

Ici vous voyez comme l'image du magazine (à droite - "She magazine") est bien transférée sur le gelli plate avec de la peinture rouge. Quand ensuite j'applique une très fine couche de jaune dessus je peux tirer le total et obtenir une superbe empreinte.

Here you can see how the magazine picture (from "She magazine) transferred well onto the plate having used red paint. Next step is to apply a very thin layer of (here yellow) paint on top to be able to reactivate the first layer and pull the print.

Deux exemples quand la peinture était trop sec. Mais rien n'est perdu.... je peu rehausser les couleurs par peindre dessus.

Commencer avec du violet, c'est joli, mais je préfère le rouge, puis le jaune.

Avec le magazine "She". Les contrastes sont si clairs que je pourrai couper un tampon ou pochoir de cet image. Souvent une chose mène à le projet suivant.

With "She" magazine. The contrasts are so good I can imagine cutting a stamp from this. So often one thing leads to another.

C'est marrant d'imprimer une image en deux parties. J'ai utilisé seulement le petit gelli plate. J'ai donc reconstruit l'image. J'ai joué avec les couleurs et j'ai ajouté quelques phrases trouvées. Cette page est faite dans mon journal (à gauche).

Fun to print the picture in two parts. I only wanted to use my smaller printing plate. This way I reconstructed the picture. I just played with the colours and added some jounaling. The page is now in my visual diary (on the left).
