l'en dessous - peek through

J'ai été demandé ce que veut vraiment dire le "peek through". Le dictionnaire ne vous donne pas cette explication mais je le traduirai par: un coup d'œil sur"l'en dessous". On peut le créer par utiliser un masque......

I was asked to be more precise about some English terms like what is exactly a peek through and whether masks and stencils are the same thing..... what is burnishing with a spoon, and also how to work these structure rolling stamps (but this I explain to day 11 in the next post).

Voici quelques de mes masques et pochoirs coupé main. Le vide est le pochoir et la silhouette est le masque.

Jour 8 du gelli printing challenge de Birgit Koopsen est tout sur des silhouettes. Souvent on voit une silhouette en noir ajouté sur un pièce de mixed média. J'ai joué plutôt avec ces formes d'une autre manière. Suivez, pour mieux comprendre:

Here are the masks and stencils I made myself. The empty parts being the stencils and the silhouettes being the masks.

Day 8 of the gelli printing challenge by Birgit Koopsen is all about silhouettes. often we see a black silhouette added to a piece of mixed media. I played with these shapes in a different manner . Follow along to understand me better:

A picture is worth a thousand words: so here's to show what exactly is a stencil and what a mask.

Ici je vous montre comment j'utilise une cuillère côté bombé pour bien frotter sur les masques (deux les mêmes) en dessous le papier imprimé une première fois à l'aide d'un napperon crocheté (voir la première image). Sur le gelli plate j'ai roulé de la peinture rouge pour trouver le contraste avec le fond de page.

Here's how I use the rounded side of a spoon to burnish the masks of the rabbits underneath the paper. The paper is that print in the first picture that I made using a crocheted doily. This second print is done with red paint for the rabbits to stand out from the background.

On arrive à voir le dessous.... "peek through" ....à travers l'ouverture et aussi par la peinture rouge un peu transparente.

We can still see what happened underneath (peek throuh) as the rabbits leave an opening and as the paint is a little transparent.

Il y avait encore de la peinture sur le gelli plate et les formes des lapins étaient bien claires. La peinture était séchée déjà mais par rouler de la peinture blanc (heavy body) avec un peu de rouge toujours sur le rouleau, j'ai activé la surface et j'ai pu tirer un autre empreinte, le "ghostprint". La peinture blanche n'était pas étalé proprement et ça m'a laissé avec une tache forme d'un œuf.... bien il est bientôt Pâques, n'est ce pas?

There was stil paint on the gelli plate showing the rabbits clearly. The paint had dried up too quickly to pull a second print. I activated it by rolling over some heavy body white paint with the red that was left on the brayer and I pulled this second print, the ghostprint. The white wasn't brayered properly and it left an egg like shape behind...well it is Easter soon isn't it?

La dernière étape était par ajouter bébé lapin par un pochoir J'ai étalé un peu de la peinture turquoise et placé le pochoir par dessus pour tirer ce détail sur l'empreinte.

Last step was to add a baby rabbit using a stencil. I rolled the paint out on part of the plate and placed the stencil over it to pull this print.

Une autre exemple d'un "peek through" est ce lapin dans la neige..... ce n'est ce Mars et de temps en temps il neige encore.

L'image dernière est une exemple d'un masque (partie orange)et le pochoir (partie verte) ensemble.

Another example of a peek through having played with black and white paint as if the rabbit is in the snow.... it's only March..... we still have snowfall now and again.

The last picture is again an example of a mask (the orange part) and a stencil (the green shape).
