A card in watercolour painted with a lot of patience because layering of these flowers can't be easily done with this technique.

J'ai envoyé cette boîte (sans envéloppe) à quelqu'un qui aime faire des empreintes avec ces feuilles de ginkgo.

I sent this box to someone who wanted to make gelli plate prints with these ginkgo leaves.

Il y a des cartes qui attendent une nouvelle adresse avant d'être envoyées.

Je n'ai toujours pas saisi comment peindre des fleurs, donc je fais mes exercices. J'utilise un grand bloc  (24x32 cm) de 50 feuilles de papier aquarelle à 425 g/m², marque Hahnemühle. C'est bien pour l'entrainement mais je préfère du papier Arches.

I still find it difficult to paint flowers and I assure you I tried several methods. I continue to train myself. For this purpose I use a big pad (24x32 cm) of 50 sheets of aquarel paper, 425 g/m² of the brand of Hanhnemühle. It works fine for training and for making cards. The heavy weight paper can be sent off without an envelope. For more serious aquarel paintings I prefer Arche paper though.

Des fleurs 'doodled' semblent facile à faire, mais vraiment ce n'est pas si évident d'arriver à ce style que j'ai en tête. Il me faut beaucoup plus d'entraînement et pour l'écriture également. A ce moment 'tout le monde' semble de vouloir faire de la calligraphie ou bien d'écrire comme une bonne écolière, donc je trouve plein d'idées sur le 'net'.

Remarquez comme j'ai colorié les côtés aussi, pour une touche finale à mes cartes.

Doodled flowers seem easier but then no, it's not obvious to give the card the result I'm looking for....keep on training and so with the handlettering. It's something in vogue actually and I find many blogs to give me good tips.

Notice how I coloured the side of the cards. It gives a more finished look.

L'oiseau sur la carte est d'un tampon que j'ai coupé. Je l'ai tamponné sur un papier à part, je l'ai colorié puis découpé pour mieux décider où je le veut placer.

The bird on this card is from my own hand made stamp. I stamped it on a separate piece of paper, coloured it in and then cut it out.

Cette grande fleur était fait séparément aussi et collé sur la carte pour donner l'aspect 3-d.

The big flower was doodled separately and then cut out to give a 3-d look.

Toujours expérimenter: est ce que j'envoie la carte telle qu'elle est ou avec un papier transparent sur lequel j'ai écrit une belle phrase? Ce papier-calque ne se laisse pas coller joliment donc je suis obligée de le coudre par dessus.

Trying things out: send the card as it is painted or finish it with an overlay with a text written in ink? Vellum paper can't be applied with glue so that needs to be sewn on.

J'envoie des cartes aux personnes qui peuvent bien 'utiliser' un mot encourageant. Je pense que ça leur fait du bien de savoir que je pense à eux.

I'm sending cards to people who need an encouraging word and to know someone is thinking of them.

Quand j'envoie une carte par mail je peux ajouter un text par ordinateur (en photophiltre). J'ai aperçu qu'une partie de la carte peut être intéressante aussi.

Maintenant je continue à faire un exercice à nouveau et je vous montre les résultats un autre fois.

To send a card online I added a word in photophiltre. It's also interesting to see that a part of the card can be equally beautiful.

Le sketchbookery cours en ligne de Mary Ann Moss m'emmène de retour dans mes couleurs d'aquarelles que j'avais abandonné. J'essaie de dessiner directement avec un feutre encre permanent et après je joue simplement avec des couleurs.

The sketchbookery online workshop  by Mary Ann Moss takes me back into my aquarel paints that I had abandonned. I tried to draw something that I have directly on hand and without using a pencil first. Then I just played around with the aquarel paints to see what works on the cheap aquarel paper that I used. Once again I discover that there isn't anything better than the more expensive "arche" paper.

J'essaie de les faire avec tant de confiance, directement, sans utiliser un crayon d'abord, mais les lignes trahissent mes hésitations.

One drawing made with a felt pen and the other with an aquarelle brush and paint, both without sketching with a pencil. I'm not good yet in using bold lines without hesitation and the drawings are like sketches.

Pas sûre de moi, j'ai fait quelques tentatives sur un papier sur lequel j'essuie mes pinceaux.

C'est dur de bien saisir l'image de la main. J'ai essayé il y a très longtemps lors d'un cours aquarelle. Voilà les résultats d'antan:

Not reassured I did some try-outs on the underpaper on which I wipe off the brushes before dipping them in the water.

I can't say that I have never tried to draw and paint my hands. A long time ago I followed a course in aquarelle painting and then this was the result:

Ca montre comment je suis changée.... Je découvre d'autres routes...

Puisque je n'était pas contente avec la main bleue, je cherche comment la rendre plus belle. Avec des fleurs on ne peut pas râter.

Quite a different style and I have changed over the years. Still trying out the way I want to paint now and wanting to make the painted hand look better I made some flowers:

I cut some of the flowers with a tiny white border to glue on the picture. Thank you Pam Garrison for the flower idea.

Peut être c'est plus facile de peindre des oiseaux? Un soir je les ai peint par dessus un fond de page avec des taches vertes. Vite les couleurs sont trop saturées et le papier ne prends pas bien les superpositions. (photo prise le soir)

Perhaps it is easier to draw and paint birds. One evening I set to do just that. I painted them over a background with mainly green patches on it. The colours become quickly too saturated and the paper doesn't take the layering really well. (photos were taken by lamp light) Do you recognize the birds in my garden (see link).
